Wooden boxes are probably the most common and most often decorated decoupage items. We have created a wide range of boxes, wooden boxes, tea boxes, decoupage boxes with compartments, boxes and we are constantly developing new products.

The style and technique of decorating wooden boxes and other items took its name from the French word decoupage which is from the French verb decoupere that means cutting out.

This style of art and design came to Europe from China, where it was a popular method of decorating lanterns, furniture, caskets, windows and many other items. European trade with the Far East first brought this style to Italy and later to other parts of Europe, including France and the United Kingdom.
Artisans, Designers, Stylists and Carpenters in Europe used Decoupage to decorate furniture and created imitations of authentic, fashionable and expensive varnished Chinese furniture. Over time the designs were changed from Far East designs and replaced by European motifs.

Artists like Georges Braque Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse were all inspired by decoupage with Matisse’s Blue Nude II being the most famous decoupage work.
